Description
Whiskey Walk
Ennis is an old medieval market town and our county's capital since the late 1500s. Its name comes from the Gaelic word for Island - 'Inis', formed by two streams of the Fergus river. Today, Ennis has lots of traditional Irish pubs famed for their traditional Irish music sessions and perfect to enjoy a nip of whiskey in. The town centre is small with everything comfortably within walking distance.
What's included
The two main streets of Ennis are Abbey and O'Connell street. We begin our tour at Cruise's bar, in the shadow of the old Franciscan Friary whose foundations were laid in 1240. Your expert guide will welcome you with your first Irish whiskey and introduce you to our wonderful spirit. We will make our way up the street to Nora Culligans Irish Whiskey bar for our second drop in their awesome whiskey front bar. For our final measure we will walk up past the Daniel O'Connell monument, onto O'Connell Street and all the way up to the Cathedral where we will experience the old style bar of Fawls Railway Bar. All in all, the walk covers approximately 500ms and lasts approx 90mins.
