In 1974, there was only Midleton and Bushmills. 1988 was another landmark year with John Teeling entering and disrupting the market with the development of Cooley distillery in Co. Louth. 2012 saw the beginning of a renaissance with the arrival of Dingle Distillery leading to 50+ distilleries in Ireland in 2024.
